A magical city
Couples who marry at the Barceló Bilbao Nervión can get to know first-hand the magical city of Bilbao in the Basque Country.

Visitors to this city in northern Spain love its beautiful landscapes and beaches, are amazed by its rich traditional culture and enjoy the glorious cuisine.

Bilbao's climate is temperate oceanic due to its proximity to the Cantabrian Sea. It receives plenty of rain throughout the year and has no clearly defined dry season. Proximity to the ocean also makes for mild winters and summers. Average maximums are 25° C in summer and 6°C in winter.

Bilbao is a standard-bearer of contemporary art and architecture. Wedding guests who stay on at the hotel can visit the Guggenheim museum, the terminal at Bilbao airport designed by Santiago Calatrava and the Vizcaya hanging bridge.

The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao

Designed by Canadian architect Frank O. Gehry, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao attracts visitors for its contemporary art exhibitions and its rounded, curvilinear architecture. This is definitely a must-see for any visitor to the city.

Bilbao's Old Town.

The Casco Viejo (Old Town), also known as Las Siete Calles (the Seven Streets), is Bilbao's oldest neighbourhood and the nucleus from which the city grew. A stroll through its streets takes you past the Santiago Cathedral, the Gothic Church of San Antón, the Church of San Nicolás and Santos Juanes Parish, the latter two in the Baroque style.

Vizcaya Hanging Bridge

The world's oldest transporter bridge has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2006. Situated on the Nervión River, the bridge links the town of Portugalete with the Las Arenas district; part of the Guecho municipality. The bridge is also known as the Portugalete Bridge or the Guecho Bridge.
